The Wyalong and West Wyalong Main Street Revitalisation and Landscape Plan sought the development of a strategic masterplan to assist Council in planning project priorities over the next 10 years. One aim of the project was to present a more coherent whole for the very long main street experience from Wyalong, through West Wyalong and at both entrances to town, while respecting the clear differences of development along the street.
Comprehensive community consultation was a clear requirement from the outset, and as a result of initial community workshops, it was understood that one of the most important design components of the plan was improvements to how a number of intersections worked. Therefore, Step Advisory were brought into the sala4D team to assist with advice and ensuring recommended designs were feasible.
Subsequent presentations to Councillors and the community proved the agile response to design requirements was worthwhile, with generally positive feedback and a happy community.
The plan includes recommendations from entrance to entrance, including intersections, parks, streetscape improvements, lighting, laneway treatments and provision of accessible parking, with a value of over $20mill.
