sala4D was commissioned by Orange City Council to develop the Glenroi Oval Masterplan, aimed at revitalising one of the city’s key public recreation spaces. The masterplan draws directly from community feedback to ensure it reflects the needs and desires of the residents who use it. This was synthesised with Council’s strategic requirements, integrating with planning documents such as the Orange Active Travel Plan.
The masterplan delivers a vibrant, multiuse precinct designed to encourage active lifestyles and foster connection. Key upgrades include a path network that significantly improves connectivity for pedestrians and cyclists, along with an improved skate park, a new pump track, modern basketball courts, football ovals, and a cricket oval. Extensive tree planting is integrated throughout the site to provide shade, ecological benefits, and a greener landscape.
By elevating the aesthetic and functional quality of Glenroi Oval, the masterplan aims to cultivate a space that the community is proud of and wishes to inhabit to enhance passive surveillance, fostering a safer environment that naturally deters anti-social behaviour.
The masterplan is grounded in practical delivery, providing Council with a costed schedule of works, establishing a robust framework that can be directly leveraged to apply for and secure vital grant funding to bring the community’s vision to life.
