As part of delivering Albert Park playspace, sala4D undertook the design of signage for the playground.
As an inclusive playground, developed with Variety and Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council, symbol based visual supports were required to assist with communication.
This included place naming and wayfinding signage, but significantly also Picture Communication Symbol (PCS) signage. PCS signage is an important tool for non-verbal individuals to communicate needs and desires to others.
This type of signage is an important component in providing a playspace that is inclusive, where children of all ages and capabilities can play together.
Council also required signs for remote supervision to be included in the signage, with the challenge for it not to dominate the signage artwork and playspace.
